Halle Bailey, one half of the iconic R&B music duo Chloe x Halle and a rising movie star, has been making a name for herself for some time now. Between her leading roles in Disney’s live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” and the upcoming “The Color Purple” movie musical, plus a forthcoming debut solo album, Bailey is keeping her plate full. However, the 23-year-old still makes time to date, as she’s currently in a relationship with rapper and YouTuber DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.).
Bailey has kept the couple’s romance under wraps for the most part ever since they publicly confirmed it in 2022. In her 2023 Glamour cover story, published on May 23, the singer told the publication of her personal life, “For my peace and my sanity, I have to keep that private,” though she has teased some minor details about her relationship. Speaking to People that same month, Bailey shyly told the outlet that her boyfriend has the makings of a Disney prince, saying, “Yeah. I would say that.” She also said that “the best thing about young love is that you’re able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else.”
Over the course of Bailey and DDG’s relationship, the two have dodged everything from breakup to cheating rumors but still appear to be going strong. Read ahead to learn more about Bailey’s love life and her beau ahead.
Who Has Halle Bailey Dated?
In regards to the dating world and romance, Bailey is generally private in that department. Aside from DDG, the “Ungodly Hour” artist hasn’t dated anyone else publicly. She did, however, speak candidly on her type of man in an Instagram Live video with her sister Chloe a few years ago. In the live stream, Bailey said, “Number one, me and Chloe don’t like the same kind of guys. She likes pretty boys.” On the other hand, Chloe said Halle likes “a guy with some sort of confidence and swag,” to which Halle replied, “Doesn’t everyone though?!”

Who Is Halle Bailey Dating Now? Meet DDG
Bailey’s dating life has been a hot topic lately amid her movie buzz. It entered the spotlight in a major way back in January 2022 after she was publicly seen hanging out with DDG at one of Usher’s concerts for his Las Vegas residency. A video obtained by The Shade Room showed her and DDG sitting close together enjoying the show, and at one point, Bailey even turns to DDG laughing over something Usher did on stage. Usher posted pictures on his Instagram Story of the couple together backstage after the concert ended, tagging their handles in the post. Romance rumors swirled afterward, but the two didn’t go public with their relationship until a few weeks later, and in the sweetest way.
On March 27, 2022, DDG confirmed his rumored romance with Bailey in a since-deleted Instagram post by wishing her a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday to the beautifulest, the flyest, the sweetest ❤️ love you forever,” he wrote in a caption alongside a series of their selfies and a video of him putting an iced-out chain on the singer. The pair’s public displays of affection continued on social media that June when Bailey posted a cute TikTok of her giving DDG singing lessons. The latter commented under her video, writing, “😂😂😂😂 i snapped lowkey.”
That same month, on June 26, Bailey and DDG — who first connected via social media — took their relationship a step further by making their red carpet debut as a couple at the BET Awards. With a smile, Bailey told a reporter from Extra, “I have my boo with me today,” though she admitted she was “nervous” about what the two would wear for their first official public outing.
Bailey’s boyfriend, like her, has been involved in the music industry for some time now as well. In 2014, DDG launched his YouTube channel, and started making music shortly after. Alongside the success of his YouTube career, DDG released his first studio album, “Valedictorian,” in 2019. His 2020 single, “Moonwalking in Calabasas,” spent 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 81, and went platinum in June 2021. Since then, he’s dropped projects like 2022’s “It’s Not Me It’s You,” plus singles like “Way Too Petty” and “I’m Geekin.”
DDG also doesn’t say much about his relationship with Bailey publicly, though during an interview on “The Breakfast Club” in November 2022, he shared, “I’ve never been with nobody that’s, like, really motivated me like she do.” Bailey, meanwhile, admitted in her September/October 2022 Essence cover story that she’s “for sure” in love with her boyfriend and also addressed critiques about their relationship from her fans. “People have seen me grow up, so of course they might have something to say about how I feel or what I do with my life,” she said. “I just choose not to read it. I ignore the naysayers and follow my own heart and intuition.”
