Khloé Kardashian keeps finding ways to support Tristan Thompson no matter what he puts her through romantically.
On Thursday’s new episode of The Kardashians, the Good American founder revealed Tristan and his 16-year-old brother Amari Thompson both moved in with her early this year following the sudden death of their mother. As you’ll recall, Andrea Thompson died unexpectedly of a heart attack back in January. And not long after that, Tristan packed up and moved in with the reality TV star.

In a confessional clip during this week’s new Hulu ep, the 39-year-old star explained how she took in Tristan and Amari to help them out during their time of grief. Alluding to the NBA veteran’s infidelity controversies, she said:
“I’m grateful that I’m strong enough and brave enough to be a support system for someone else that has no other support system right now. You don’t have to treat me right for me to treat you right. That’s not the way I was raised.”
It all started when Tristan called Khloé to explain what happened to his beloved mother. As soon as Khloé picked up the phone, the 32-year-old basketball star was inconsolable, as she recalled:
“I didn’t really understand what he was saying. He was just like screaming on the phone, trying to tell me that she’s gone, but I had no idea who he was talking about.”
From there, Khloé and Kris Jenner eventually went with Tristan to Toronto to be at the funeral and take care of pressing family needs. But soon after that, new problems arose. Tristan’s 16-year-old brother is cognitively disabled, and the NBA star now cares for him. In fact, after Andrea’s death, Tristan became his legal guardian and brought him back to California.
As Khloé explained, it takes quite a lot of time and resources to make sure Amari has what he needs:
“Amari is 16, and he is severely disabled. It’s just really sad, because we don’t know what he knows or doesn’t know, cognitively.”
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more difficult, another emergency came up: the Los Angeles Lakers star’s roof caved in.
Tristan had been renovating his Calabasas-area home over the winter. For a while, his intention was to live in it while renovations were taking place. But during one terrible storm, that all came to a halt, as the Revenge Body alum revealed:
“He was able to live there during renovations, but we had crazy weather for California, like extreme rains, and Tristan’s roof caved in on his home and caused flooding. So, Tristan and Amari are staying at my house right now until his home gets fixed.”
When it rains it pours… literally… And suddenly, Khloé and Tristan became (platonic) roommates.

Later in the episode, pointing out the irony of having Tristan moving back in after Khloé spent so much time trying to set up boundaries with her ex, sister Kim Kardashian quipped:
“Isn’t God just, like, funny? You were so ready to have your year of being free, and now, Tristan had to move in with you, his little brother had to move in with you, his roof caved in. What are the chances?”
To which Khloé replied:
“My number one slogan I always use: ‘if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.’ God does have a plan. And God doesn’t want him to be alone right now. And why should he be?”
Seriously!
Still, even though Khloé is helping out with Amari and getting Tristan out of a tight spot, she wanted to make it very clear by the end of the show that all this did not mean a romantic reconciliation was on the horizon.
She concluded in a final confessional to the Hulu cameras:
“I know it’s hard for everyone to believe, but I love, love, love Andrea and I love Tristan. I love Amari. This is what family does. Tristan is the father of my kids… I know how close Tristan and his mom are, and it’s just heartbreaking. And then to be left with the responsibility of another person as well, it’s a lot. I just think this is what family does when s**t hits the fan. All you have is your family. And Tristan and I are family, and we’re gonna be family for the rest of our lives.”
Well said!
