Pamela Anderson Celebrates Success of The Last Showgirl Despite Past Trauma
Pamela Anderson is basking in the glow of her recent success with the film The Last Showgirl. In a recent interview on Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live, Anderson opened up about her experience with the Hulu series Pam & Tommy, which was released without her knowledge nearly three years ago.
Anderson expressed her hurt and surprise at not being consulted or informed about the series, stating, “I didn’t have any involvement. No one called me, which was so strange and that was hurtful. I think ethically it’s illegal. But I mean, you’re kind of fair game.” She also revealed that no one from Hulu had reached out to her to make amends.
The series, which focused on the theft of Anderson’s sex tape with ex-husband Tommy Lee, was a difficult experience for her to relive. Anderson spoke out about her negative feelings towards the series, explaining, “I blocked that out of my life. I had to in order to survive, really. It was a survival mechanism.” Despite the painful memories, Anderson has found solace and success with her latest project, The Last Showgirl.
The Last Showgirl has earned Anderson critical acclaim, with nominations for Gotham, Golden Globe, and SAG Awards. Critics have praised her performance, with THR’s chief film critic David Rooney writing, “Anderson’s transformative performance is undeniably affecting, offering illuminating insights into both the character and the actress playing her.” Anderson herself reflects on the series, stating, “It happened and now I’m here and so this is the best payback … I’m being seen and recognized for my work and not these tawdry moments.”
