DC’s upcoming Clayface movie has officially started to hear pitches from directors. Jeff Wadlow and James Watkins are names in the mix to potentially direct the project, according to a report from Deadline.
The report indicates that DC Studios will be listening to pitches from potential directors in the upcoming week, with Wadlow and Watkins being considered as potential candidates. There is also buzz surrounding the casting for the film, but it is expected that casting decisions will not be finalized until a director is chosen to provide input.
Wadlow is known for his work in the horror genre, having directed films like Imaginary, Fantasy Island, and Truth or Dare. Watkins, on the other hand, recently directed the Speak No Evil remake, Bastille Day, and The Woman in Black.
As for what we know about DC’s Clayface movie, not much information has been revealed yet. However, reports suggest that the film will be a horror-thriller. The movie is being penned by writer/filmmaker Mike Flanagan.
James Gunn has mentioned Clayface as a part of the DCU story, indicating that it will be set within the continuity of the new shared DC universe established by Gunn and Peter Safran through projects like the Creature Commandos series.
While casting details for the Clayface movie have not been officially announced, Alan Tudyk is voicing the character in Creature Commandos. Gunn has hinted that actors voicing major animated characters in DCU projects will also play them in live-action, as seen with Frank Grillo voicing Rick Flag Sr. in Creature Commandos and appearing in the live-action Superman movie.
Gunn has also teased that Tudyk will portray a live-action character in the DCU. It remains to be seen which character Tudyk will bring to life on the big screen.(Source: Deadline)
