Bowen Yang, a star on Saturday Night Live, shared his frustration with fans tagging him in photos of other Asian people on social media. During a recent episode of the “Las Culturistas” podcast, Yang expressed his annoyance with fans on TikTok tagging him in photos of Asian individuals who look like him, especially children in costumes.

Yang first gained attention for his work on shows like Broad City and High Maintenance before joining SNL as a writer in 2018 and later becoming the show’s first Chinese-American cast member in 2019. Despite his success on SNL, Yang has been dealing with negative experiences on social media, which he finds toxic and has considered leaving.

As Yang continues to pursue his career in Hollywood, including his recent role in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked, he has had to deal with the negative aspects of fame. He highlighted the unrealistic expectations some fans have of him, such as portraying a dancing baby in a sketch on SNL.

While Yang appreciates the opportunities he has had in his career, he also acknowledges the challenges of dealing with ignorant comments and behavior from some fans online. Despite the negative experiences, Yang remains focused on his work and continues to navigate his rising fame in Hollywood.
