Zoe Saldana Expresses Hope for Star Trek 4 to Come to Fruition Soon
Zoe Saldana recently shared her thoughts on the progress of Star Trek 4, expressing a desire to see the project completed sooner rather than later. In an interview with Deadline, Saldana lamented the delay in making the movie, noting the aging of the cast members and joking about their now-graying hair.
“I wish we were able to do it sooner rather than later,” said Saldana. “I feel like a lot of us have a full head of gray hair, so we need to do this quickly, if this is the same cast that’s going to reprise it again.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming film, Saldana highlighted the relationship between Uhura and Spock (played by Zachary Quinto) as an important storyline to explore in any future Star Trek project.
“It’s been a minute since I reconnected with Star Trek and all the characters’ journeys,” said Saldana. “But Uhura and Spock were always sort of drawn to each other, it just makes sense to see what is the next step in their relationship and their work relationship as well.”
While there have been creative changes and delays in the development of Star Trek 4, producer J.J. Abrams recently confirmed that the project is still in active development. The original cast, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Simon Pegg, is expected to return. However, the movie currently has no attached director after Matt Shakman exited due to scheduling conflicts.
Fans can look forward to the eventual release of Star Trek 4, as the team behind the film works towards bringing the next installment of the popular sci-fi franchise to the big screen.
