The 61st Annual Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards saw A Complete Unknown, The Wild Robot, and Music By John Williams taking home the top honors in the motion picture categories. Masters of the Air, Shogun, and The Bear were also recognized in the TV categories for their outstanding sound mixing work.
CAS President Peter Kurland expressed, “This year’s winners transported audiences to historic battlegrounds, bustling kitchens, and deeply personal moments of an American icon, showcasing the importance of sound in the heart of movies.” With sound mixing pushing creative boundaries and defining stories, the dedication and innovation of these professionals were celebrated at the event hosted by comedian Tom Papa at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
Highlighting the winners, A Complete Unknown, along with Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, Wicked, and The Wild Robot, are all in the running for an Oscar in the sound category this year. CAS has often been a predictor of Oscar winners in recent years, making this year’s winners a notable indication of potential Academy Award success.
