Woolery began his career in show business as a singer in The Avant-Garde before transitioning to television game shows. He rose to fame as the original host of Wheel of Fortune, which premiered in 1975 on NBC. Despite the show’s success, Woolery was replaced by Pat Sajak due to a contract dispute.
After leaving Wheel of Fortune, Woolery found continued success as the host of Love Connection, where he presided over more than 2,000 episodes. He also appeared on various other game shows and had his own morning show.
Born in 1941 in Kentucky, Woolery had a diverse career that included music, acting, and television hosting. He earned a Daytime Emmy for his work on Wheel of Fortune and was known for his charismatic presence on Love Connection.
In addition to his television career, Woolery was also an avid fisherman and co-hosted a podcast called Blunt Force Truth. He was married four times and had eight children/stepchildren.
