The 2025 South by Southwest Film & TV Festival recently announced its award winners, with Amy Wang’s film “Slanted” taking home the top prize in the Narrative Feature Competition. IndieWire praised Wang’s body horror high school film as a blend of “Mean Girls” and “The Substance,” and the film is now looking for U.S. distribution.
Other winners included Annapurna Sriram’s “Fucktoys,” which received the Special Jury Award for a Multi-Hyphenate, and Amanda Peet, who won the Performance award for her work in Matthew Shear’s debut film “Fantasy Life.” Additionally, Benjamin Flaherty’s documentary “Shuffle” snagged the top Documentary prize.
Neon also awarded director Grace Glowicki of “Dead Lover” a special prize, which secured distribution after premiering at Sundance.
