The Latinx House has teamed with the Adobe Foundation to launch a $6 million movie and tv fund.
The new initiative is designed to help rising filmmakers by two packages: The Gloria Schoemann Editors Fellowship honoring the late and prolific Mexican movie editor, and the Proof of Idea Program, which can present early funding for “authentic storytelling projects.” These packages are meant to deal with the underrepresentation of Latine expertise in leisure.
The Gloria Schoemann Editors Fellowship will help bilingual editors centered on scripted options. Fellowship mentors embody Waldemar Centeno (Gentefied), Joaquin Elizondo (Narcos: Mexico) and Carla Gutiérrez (Frida). The fellowship roster has already been set: Mario Fierro, who has labored as Cardi B’s private videographer, Maria Gabriela Torres (True Justice: Bryan Stevenson’s Struggle for Equality) and Alejandra Armijo (Andromeda).
Mentioned Olga Segura, co-founder of The Latinx House: “Thanks to the support of the Adobe Foundation, we are not only able to invest in Latine filmmakers, but we are also honoring the rich legacy of the incomparable Gloria Schoemann, who made a profound impact on the film industry through her one-of-a-kind and groundbreaking editing career.”
The Proof of Idea Program helps superior Latine filmmakers transitioning from profitable movie pageant premieres to follow-up tasks. Oscar nominated filmmaker Oren Moverman (The Messenger), Marc Forster (World Warfare Z), and producer Jay Van Hoy (The Lighthouse) chosen the 2 finalists for this system — Yolanda Cruz and Isabel Castro.
