Sonos, a leading audio technology company, is making significant changes in its leadership team as part of its efforts to recover from the setbacks it faced following a problematic mobile app redesign last year. With CEO Patrick Spence recently stepping down, the company’s chief product officer, Maxime Bouvat-Merlin, is also leaving Sonos. Bouvat-Merlin will stay on as an advisor to interim CEO Tom Conrad during the leadership transition before his full departure from the company.
In an email to Sonos employees, Conrad announced the departure of Bouvat-Merlin and revealed that the role of chief product officer is being eliminated. The product team will now report directly to Conrad, indicating a shift in the company’s organizational structure.
After facing challenges due to a flawed mobile app update in May, which led to technical issues and missing features, Sonos experienced a decline in its financial performance and had to lay off about 100 employees in August. To rebuild trust with customers and stakeholders, Sonos has been implementing various strategies to address the aftermath of the app launch. The decision to make changes in the top leadership team is seen as a step towards restoring confidence in the company’s future.
