Cartuna and Dweck Productions have acquired Dead Lover, the first feature film from their new distribution venture. This marks one of the early deals from the 2025 SXSW Film Festival, where the movie premiered in Texas on March 9 after debuting at Sundance.
Written and directed by Grace Glowicki, Dead Lover follows a gravedigger (played by Glowicki) who tries to bring back her deceased lover (Ben Petrie) through scientific experiments. The film combines elements of horror, comedy, and romance.
Cartuna x Dweck plans a theatrical release for the movie, with no release date announced yet. Glowicki and Petrie co-wrote the script, with Glowicki also directing. The film is produced by Glowicki, Petrie, and Yona Strauss under Neon Heart Productions.
Cartuna founder James Belfer expressed excitement about supporting innovative storytellers, and Dweck Productions co-founder Hannah Dweck praised the unique vision of the Dead Lover team.
Glowicki, Petrie, and Strauss are eager to collaborate with Cartuna and Dweck Productions on the release of Dead Lover. Both companies have a history of championing independent cinema, making them ideal partners for this project.
