Bode Miller tragically loses his toddler daughter.
In June 2018, Bode and his wife Jessica Miller sadly lost one of their children. 19-month-old Emeline “Emmy” Miller drowned in a tragic accident after she got out of the back door and into a neighbor’s pool. The story made headlines and the Olympian continues to share his daughter’s sad story publicly. He posts tributes to her via social media on the anniversaries of her passing, as well as other important dates.
Bode and his wife Jessica have gone on to expand their family. They share seven-year-old Nash, four-year-old Easton, three-and-a-half-year-old twins Asher and Aksel, and 21-month-old Scarlet. Before starting a family with Jessica, Bode had two kids in his other relationships, including a 10-year-old son Nate and a 14-year-old daughter Dace.
The death of Emmy will always be on Bode’s mind, of course, so he decided to share his story on Special Forces this week.
Bode Miller continues sharing his story on Special Forces.
On Monday’s episode of the FOX reality series, Bode opened up to the recruits about his daughter’s death five years ago. He explained, “It was brutal. She let herself out the back door and jumped right into our neighbor’s pool.”
The former Olympian added that it’s something that he’s continued to deal with for the past five years and that he will do so for the rest of his life. He admitted, “It does not go away.” The dad got very emotional as he opened up and didn’t hold back from showing his true feelings.
Fellow Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test star Kelly Rizzo related to Bode about death. Kelly is the wife of Full House star Bob Saget, who passed away last year. She opened up about the guilt that comes with being happy after losing a loved one. It turns out that Bode could relate to this. He said, “It’s so conflicting. It’s one of the strangest things.”
Continue to keep Bode Miller and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to grieve the loss of their daughter five years later. Below, you can see the clip of him sharing the heartbreaking details.
