Bad Sisters: Sharon Horgan Teases Season Two Spoilers
Bad Sisters creator Sharon Horgan teased some major spoilers for the upcoming season of the Apple+ series. According to Horgan, the second season will revolve around Ian Reilly, Grace’s ex-husband, and the tragic cycle that Grace cannot seem to escape.
In the season finale, viewers will finally learn about what happened between Grace and Ian after she confessed to killing her first husband. As the story unfolds, Ian tries to blackmail Grace for keeping her secret, but Grace refuses to comply. This leads to a dramatic turn of events that ultimately results in a fatal car accident.
Horgan and executive producer Dearbhla Walsh discussed the development of the character Angelica, played by Fiona Shaw. They drew inspiration from aunts and neighbors they knew growing up, as well as self-proclaimed do-gooders. Shaw described Angelica as self-obsessed and not cool, but also a victim as much as a perpetrator.
The central theme of season two revolves around the corrupt police system, with Reilly and Detective Inspector Fergal Loftus being portrayed as villains. Horgan emphasized the importance of questioning the trustworthiness of those meant to protect us.
As the season progresses, the sisters find themselves facing the consequences of their actions, with Reilly intent on pressing charges against them. However, with the help of Detective Una Houlihan, they manage to evade serious repercussions.
Horgan hinted at the possibility of a third season, but acknowledged the challenges of maintaining the believability of the sisters’ situation. The future of the show remains uncertain, but Horgan teased that anything could happen in the world of Bad Sisters.
