Rick Ross has shown some love to Mannie Fresh after linking up with the legendary producer and DJ, dubbing him an “icon” in the process.
Taking to Instagram with a video on Sunday (November 19) while aboard the Rock The Bells Cruise, Rozay paid homage as a smiling Mannie Fresh gratefully accepted all the love.
“You talk about icons, you talk about a muthafucka that really molded the culture? N-gga, hit records on top of hit records on top of hit records,” Rozay said while stood alongside Fresh. “The shit ain’t stop and it ain’t gon’ stop. We gon’ keep going, man. I love you, brother.”

During his time at Cash Money Records, Mannie Fresh (real name Byron Thomas) was responsible for some of the label’s biggest hits. His signature sound can be heard on songs such as “Go DJ” by Lil Wayne, and Juvenile‘s rump-shaking hit “Back That Azz Up.”
Earlier this year, he sold his game-changing catalog to Reservoir Media — but the exact terms of the deal and the fee have not been disclosed. In April, Music Business Worldwide confirmed that Cash Money’s former in-house producer had sold his entire catalog including both publishing and recorded music rights.
“It’s great to be joining up with Faith Newman and the entire Reservoir team. I’m grateful for their support, and I know they’ll take care of my music,” he said to the outlet.
“I was born and raised in Louisiana and witnessed Mannie’s meteoric rise from a local DJ in New Orleans to a globally acclaimed producer, writer, and performer who helped break some of the genre’s biggest talents,” said Rell Lafargue, Reservoir President and Chief Operating Officer.
“It means a lot to me to continue to build Reservoir’s connection to creators like Mannie, who represents the highest caliber of contemporary music from New Orleans, and we’re pleased to be the new stewards of his hit music.”
Meanwhile, Rick Ross has also been paving the path to legendary status, and recently announced that he’s not too far off from becoming Hip Hop’s next billionaire.
“We racin’ to a billion, n-gga,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories earlier this month. “I’m a year away. I’m a year away. Let’s go, baby!”
Earlier this year, he put himself in the billionaire conversation alongside one of America’s most divisive businessmen.
In mid-September, the Biggest Bawse took to social media to show off his shiny black and gold private jet, which was parked at an airport near former president Donald Trump’s aircraft.
The former U.S. president’s jet featured similar markings as Ross,’ albeit in red, white and blue colors — a nod to the American flag. Also impossible to ignore was the fact that Trump’s plane dwarfed that of the MMG mogul.
“Billionaires Row [champagne toast emoji],” Ross wrote in his Instagram caption, claiming membership in the billionaire boys’ club.
While his financial flex has yet to be verified and recent estimates peg his net worth at a figure between $100-150million, he would become just the fourth Hip Hop artist to surpass that milestone following JAY-Z, Kanye West and Diddy.
Ye, who was at one point the richest rapper alive, lost the title last year after adidas terminated their lucrative Yeezy partnership due to his antisemitic comments. The move saw Ye’s net worth plummet from $1.5 billion to around $400million.
