On March 20, Temporal Drift, a Los Angeles label, will be reissuing the album Flora by the late Japanese composer Hiroshi Yoshimura. This reissue was completed in collaboration with Yoshimura’s estate, and includes liner notes from writer and professor Junichi Konuma. The album has been remastered by engineer John Baldwin. Take a listen to the opening track, “Over the Clover.”
Originally recorded in 1987 following his works Green and Surround from 1986, Flora was not widely available until a CD release in 2006. This upcoming reissue by Temporal Drift will be the first time Flora will be widely available on vinyl, CD, cassette, and digitally.
Yoshimura unfortunately passed away in 2003 at the age of 63. His debut album, Music for Nine Postcards, received renewed attention in 2017, shining a light on Yoshimura’s contributions to Japanese ambient music.
