During jury duty, Reese Witherspoon was selected as the jury foreman because her fellow jurors mistook her for her character in Legally Blonde, Elle Woods.
Reese Witherspoon is famously known for her portrayal of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, a movie about a sorority girl who attends Harvard Law School. Despite not having attended law school in real life, Witherspoon found herself in a surprising situation during jury duty when some people believed she was an actual lawyer.
In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, Witherspoon shared her experience of being chosen for jury duty in Beverly Hills, seven years after the release of Legally Blonde. Initially thinking she wouldn’t be picked, she ended up being selected for a long trial that lasted two weeks. During deliberation, her fellow jurors unanimously chose her as the jury foreman, believing she had attended law school due to her role in Legally Blonde. Witherspoon had to clarify that she never went to law school and only portrayed a lawyer in a movie. This incident made her realize that people may not have a deep understanding of the law.
Upcoming, Witherspoon will star alongside Will Ferrell in the film You’re Cordially Invited, where two weddings are accidentally booked on the same day at the same venue, leading to a comedic battle between the bridal parties. The movie will premiere on Prime Video on January 30th.
