UPDATE: 10/03/2023 19:00 EST BY ROLAND UDVARLAKI
We have updated this post with the official information provided by Samsung.
Samsung skipped the Galaxy S22 FE, and returned with the new Galaxy S23 FE. It’s not to be confused with the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, or the Galaxy S23 Ultra, as its an entirely new device, although it borrows a lot of design choices from the standard Galaxy S23 series. The device is equipped with a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED Display 2X, a triple camera setup and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
Samsung launched the new Galaxy S23 FE alongside the new Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+, and the new Galaxy Buds FE wireless earbuds.
Price & Availability
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be available in six colors. Four of these include the Mint, Cream, Graphite, and Purple. These will be available at most retailers and carriers, while the Indigo and Tangerine will be available exclusively at Samsung.com.
When it comes to the pricing, the Galaxy S23 FE will start at $599.99 for the base model. The phone will be available beginning October 26 at T-Mobile, AT&T, UScellular, Verizon, and Samsung.com, as well as in Samsung Experience Stores and carrier partners across the US.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is an excellent smartphone. It features a powerful triple camera setup, a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, and a large 4,500 mAh battery that lets you take photos, play games, and browse the web for a day. It supports 25W wired charging, and 15W wireless charging.
Galaxy S23 FE: Specifications
Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S23 FE would be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was officially announced back in December, 2021. It might be a little considered a little old at this point, but it’s still fast and efficient as it’s built on the 4nm process.
It’s worth noting that Samsung will equip the Galaxy S23 FE with a different chip in select markets, likely an Exynos variant. The device supports 5G, LTE, and comes with Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and NFC. The phone will run an unknown version of One UI, based on Android 13.

Design and Display
In terms of size and design, the Galaxy S23 FE is somewhere in between the standard Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23+. It measures 76.5 x 158 x 8.2mm and it’s 209 grams, slightly heavier than the Galaxy S23+ at 196 grams. In terms of design, the phone features an identical design and the easiest way to tell that this isn’t a Galaxy S23 flagship is by looking at the LED flash on the back. It’s placed between the first and middle camera, whereas the Galaxy S23 flagships have it next to the top sensor.
The FE also has the same button and port configuration, with the volume rocker and power button placed on the right side, speaker, USB-C port and microphone on the bottom. The phone will feature the same IP68 water and dust-resistant certificate as the Galaxy S23 flagships, meaning that you can safely take it down to the pool and beach without having to worry about dust or splashes of water getting in the device. As always, we don’t recommend submerging smartphones or other electronic devices.
Display-wise, the Galaxy S23 FE sports a 6.4-inch FHD+, Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 120Hz refresh rate. The phone has the same punch hole cutout in the center as the Galaxy S23 flagships, though it does appear to have chunkier bezels on all four sides.

The Galaxy S23 FE will pack a competitive triple-camera setup, consisting of a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and 84-degree FoV, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide with 123-degree FoV, and an 8MP telephoto with f/2.4 and 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera will feature an f/2.4 sensor with 80-degree FoV.
Samsung says the S23 FE will be excellent for creating content, and the Pro mode will offer enhanced features to get the most out of the phone. At first glance, it looks like the Galaxy S23 FE might be using the same primary and ultrawide camera from the Galaxy S22, which was already a superb smartphone with a more than capable camera quality.

It turns out that rumors and leaks were true this time around, and the Galaxy S23 FE does indeed come with a 4,500 mAh battery. The previous Galaxy S21 FE had the same capacity cell inside, and we expect the device to last a full day on a single charge without issues.
When it comes to charging, Samsung didn’t skip out of anything, and the S23 FE comes with decent specifications, albeit, it’s still on the slow side. The device supports 25W wired charging, and Samsung says it can go from 0% to 50% in around 30 minutes, using the Samsung-approved 25W power adapter. The phone supports 15W wireless charging, and it also supports 5W reverse wireless charging.
In case you’re in the market for a new smartphone, we’d recommend you take a look at the Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S23+ flagships, as well as the Galaxy A54 midranger, and the new Galaxy S23 FE. Each and every one of these devices are appealing as they offer great camera setups, long battery life, and great general performance.
With the Galaxy S23, you’re getting a more compact form factor, and a recent flagship chipset with better performance, and the latest camera setup from Samsung. The Galaxy S23+ offers the same, but in a larger package, making it more enjoyable for consuming content.
The Galaxy A54 5G is more affordable but comes with a slightly different triple camera setup and a midranger chip. The Galaxy S23 FE is somewhere between the A54 and the Galaxy S23 in terms of performance, so if you’re looking for a device for less, but slightly more than the A54, it’s a great choice with very few sacrifices.
