When we caught up with Dennis Lee, CEO and co-founder of CloudJoi, at Scale Up by Endeavor’s (Scale Up) event, he shared that this event stood out from the usual tech and startup networking gatherings. Typically, people attend such events to connect with peers or secure funding. However, Dennis appreciated the exclusive and curated nature of Scale Up, which focuses on providing guidance to founders like himself. He recently joined Cohort 5 of the program.
Endeavor, originating from New York City, is dedicated to supporting global entrepreneurs and nurturing entrepreneurial ecosystems in emerging markets worldwide. Its Scale Up program, spanning four months, is designed to uplift early-stage entrepreneurs by offering tailored mentorship, fostering a supportive community, and equipping founders with resources to craft and execute growth strategies.
Partnering with Grab Malaysia and GXBank, Endeavor tailored Cohort 5 to provide an intimate learning experience with industry leaders, steering away from traditional pitch presentations to one-on-one or one-to-four mentorship sessions. While the program does not guarantee funding, it offers valuable insights and real-world lessons on scaling a business, with over 70 mentors, including accomplished entrepreneurs like Eric Cheng and Loi Tuan Ee, sharing their expertise.
CloudJoi, a ticketing platform, benefited from the mentorship of Adelene Foo from Grab and Fadrizul Hasani from GXBank. They emphasized the importance of word-of-mouth marketing and shared hands-on guidance with CloudJoi, emphasizing the significance of mentorship and collaboration in fostering growth.
In an interview, Adelene and Fadrizul shared core takeaways for founders, including the importance of seeking help, focusing on team empowerment, problem-solving, and elevating standards. By connecting with industry players like Adelene and Fadrizul, startups like CloudJoi gain not just business advice but also valuable insights and support for their growth.
For entrepreneurs seeking to develop their ideas into successful businesses, Scale Up could be the catalyst needed to accelerate their journey. By embracing mentorship and collaboration, startups can tap into the expertise and guidance of seasoned professionals to navigate the entrepreneurial landscape effectively.
