Olivia Munn recently revealed that she turned down a significant sum of money in exchange for staying silent about a traumatic incident that occurred on a movie set. The actress shared this story during a conversation with Monica Lewinsky on her podcast Reclaiming.
Although Munn did not provide specific details about the incident or the movie in question, she stated that it occurred during the early days of the #MeToo movement, which gained momentum around 2017. She mentioned filing complaints with the studio due to the traumatic experience she endured.
The studio offered Munn a large sum of money, in the seven figures, to accept their apology, but it came with the condition of signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Despite the financial incentive, Munn refused to sign the NDA as she felt it was unjust, especially in light of the emerging #MeToo and Time’s Up movements.
Instead of signing the NDA, Munn stood her ground and chose not to accept the money, despite pressure from her lawyer and others. Ultimately, she felt proud of her decision, even though shortly after, California made NDAs illegal.
Munn has been vocal about on-set misconduct in the past, including accusations against director Brett Ratner and addressing concerns about working with a registered sex offender in another film. She emphasized the importance of speaking out against injustice and standing up for what is right.
