Courteney Cox has officially signed on to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in the highly anticipated Scream 7. Variety reports that Cox will join the cast, making her the only actor besides Roger L. Jackson, the voice of Ghostface, to appear in every Scream movie.
Cox expressed her excitement to return to the franchise, especially under the direction of Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter of Scream. Neve Campbell will also return as Sidney Prescott in the upcoming sequel.
The film will introduce new cast members, including Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Asa Germaan, and Anna Camp. Mason Gooding is set to reprise his role as Chad Meeks-Martin, while Jasmin Savoy Brown’s return as Mindy is still pending.
There have been some changes to the original cast plan, with Spyglass Media releasing Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega from the project. Ortega’s departure was reportedly due to salary disputes. Additionally, Christopher Landon, who was set to direct the film, also left, citing challenges during production.
