Nickelodeon has announced a new series set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender, titled Avatar: Seven Havens, with the original creators on board.
Are you excited for the next chapter in the Avatar franchise? Nickelodeon has greenlit Avatar: Seven Havens, a new 26-episode series created by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original creators of the beloved animated series.
Set in a world torn apart by a catastrophic event, Avatar: Seven Havens follows a young Earthbender who discovers she is the new Avatar. However, in this dangerous era, the Avatar is seen as a threat rather than a savior. Pursued by enemies from both humans and spirits, she must uncover her mysterious past and save the Seven Havens before it’s too late.
Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel series, The Legend of Korra, have captivated audiences for years with their compelling characters and stories. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon are thrilled to continue the saga with Avatar: Seven Havens, a new story set in the Avatarverse created by DiMartino and Konietzko.
In a joint statement, the creators expressed their excitement for this new chapter in the Avatar world, promising fans an epic and emotional journey filled with fantasy and mystery.
DiMartino and Konietzko were previously involved in the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender for Netflix but left over creative differences. They have since returned to Nickelodeon to establish Avatar Studios, where they are also working on Aang: The Last Airbender, an animated feature film that follows the original series’ main characters in their young adult years. The film, featuring Eric Nam, Jessica Matten, Román Zaragoza, Dionne Quan, and Dave Bautista in key roles, is slated for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026.
