Now, Kaiju News Outlet reveals a look at Godzilla Minus One’s updated monster. The image appears on the cover of a special issue of SCREENa and can be seen below:
In the poster-like image, Godzilla levels a city with his massive three-pronged foot. A once-towering building has been totaled by his body, and a pickup truck is about to be taken out with just his toenail. Around him, a washed-out city erupts in flames.
What To Expect From Godzilla Minus One
While this new image reveals little in the way of the plot of Godzilla Minus One, it gives a sense of the monster’s scale. While all movies tends to portray the beast as a massive monster, Godzilla Minus One’s version looks particularly domineering in the above photo. The image is not just one of Godzilla destroying part of the city, but wreaking havoc throughout it as he stands atop an apocalyptic backdrop of his own making.
Godzilla Minus One is produced by Toho Studios, a Japanese production company that has been making Godzilla-related content since 1954’s movie of the same name. Godzilla Minus One will be the studio’s first live-action film since 2016’s Shin Godzilla. Since the announcement of the new movie, Toho has promised to bring Godzilla back to his evil and destructive ways.
So far, the images and trailer for Godzilla Minus One appear to fulfill Toho’s vision. In other recent images, the monster’s brutally sharp teeth are shown as he rips apart the city’s train cars and more. The latest Godzilla Minus One image continues this depiction of its title character as an ultimate obliterator, boding well for Toho’s desire to return the franchise to an unforgiving and unforgivable version of the monster.
