Just one retail chain propelled Taylor Swift to have the top-selling book last week and the biggest publishing launch of 2024. According to Circana, Swift’s Eras Tour Book sold a whopping 814,000 copies over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The exclusive launch at Target on Black Friday helped boost sales, even without the presence of Amazon.com and other retailers. Despite some online complaints about typos and errors in the $39.99 book, sales continued to soar.
This achievement puts Swift in rare company, with only Barack Obama’s A Promised Land selling more copies in its first week in 2020. Swift has a history of arranging exclusive, non-traditional releases, such as her successful partnership with AMC Theatres and Cinemark Theatres for her “Eras” concert film in 2023.
Even prior to the Eras book, Swift has been a popular figure in the publishing industry, inspiring various genres from biographies to cocktail recipe collections. Another top seller in 2024 is Taylor Swift: A Little Golden Book Biography by Wendy Loggia, following the tradition of beloved Little Golden books.
Overall, Taylor Swift continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, with her remarkable success in music, film, and now publishing.
