Netflix has revealed a teaser and new images for the upcoming French-language animated series, Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight, based on the beloved comic book series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Set to release in the spring of 2025, the series is created by Alain Chabat, known for the successful 2002 film Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra. The show is directed by Fabrice Joubert and produced by Alain Goldman in collaboration with animation studio TAT Productions.
The storyline follows the last independent village in Gaul, home to the iconic characters Asterix and Obelix, as they battle against the might of Rome. When the memory of the potion master, crucial for their battle superiority, vanishes, the villagers must face the Roman conquest alone.
Netflix’s venture into French programming continues to flourish with hits like Lupin and Call My Agent! The partnership with French publisher Hachette’s Les Editions Albert René brings this new animated series to life, showcasing the legendary Gauls and their resistance against Roman rule. Additionally, Netflix’s expanding animated slate includes recent releases like That Christmas, featuring a star-studded voice cast.
