Last month, Megan Thee Stallion took legal action by filing a petition for a restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a prison sentence for shooting her multiple times in 2020. The petition was filed in Los Angeles’ Superior Court and today, Judge Richard Bloom officially granted the request, as reported by Meghan Cuniff and Rolling Stone’s Nancy Dillon. The restraining order will remain in effect for the next five years, according to Cuniff.
During the court hearing, Megan Thee Stallion testified via video, expressing her need for the restraining order by stating, “I want my restraining order because I haven’t been at peace since I [was] shot. I’m just a nervous wreck all the time,” as reported by Dillon.
In her petition, Megan Thee Stallion revealed that Lanez had been using third parties to harass her from prison and working with bloggers to spread false claims about the case, attacking her credibility. The original protective order issued by the court to prevent further harassment had expired at the time of filing.
