Ke Huy Quan received advice from old friend Steven Spielberg before taking on the leading role in the action comedy Love Hurts. Known for his roles in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies, Quan took a hiatus from acting before making a comeback with the award-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once. His next project, Love Hurts, showcases him as a mild-mannered realtor with a dark secret.
During a conversation with Steven Spielberg, Quan expressed his concerns about disappointing his fans after the success of his previous film. Spielberg encouraged Quan to pursue the project and even joined him for lunch to discuss it further. Impressed with the unique character Quan would portray, Spielberg gave his blessing for the actor to take on the role.
In Love Hurts, Quan plays Marvin Gable, a realtor who receives a mysterious envelope from a former partner-in-crime, leading him into a world of ruthless hitmen and dangerous situations. With the support of his brother Knuckles, played by Daniel Wu, Marvin must confront his past and face the challenges ahead. The film is set to be released in theaters on February 7th.
Additionally, Quan is set to star in The Electric State alongside Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown. Directed by the Russo brothers, the film is set in a retro-futuristic 1990s where sentient robots live in exile following an uprising. The Electric State will premiere on Netflix on March 14th.
