In the ongoing legal dispute between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, a new development has emerged. The actor is now accusing Ryan Reynolds of intentionally creating the character of Nicepool in the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” to ridicule and bully him.
Lively, who is married to Reynolds, previously sued Baldoni for sexual harassment while filming “It Ends With Us.” Although Baldoni has not directly sued Lively, his lawyer has threatened legal action against her.
On January 7, Baldoni sent a letter to Marvel’s Kevin Feige and Disney’s Bob Iger, requesting all documents related to the development of the character Nicepool and any communications related to the writing and filming of scenes featuring Nicepool.
Nicepool is a kind-hearted version of Reynolds’ character, Deadpool, in the movie. The character compliments Ladypool, played by Lively, for her post-baby body, fueling Lively’s allegations of fat-shaming by Baldoni during the filming of “It Ends With Us.”
In another scene, Nicepool humorously calls for an intimacy coordinator, paralleling Lively’s claims that Baldoni included inappropriate sexual content in the film. Baldoni is also suing the New York Times for defamation following an article about the alleged smear campaign against Lively.
Disney acquired the rights to Deadpool and the X-Men franchise in 2019 when it purchased 20th Century Fox. This news was first reported by Variety.
