John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have closed a deal with Lionsgate to write a movie based on the popular board game Monopoly. Monopoly, a game dating back to 1935, challenges players to acquire properties, build houses and hotels, and avoid bankruptcy and the infamous “go directly to jail” card. With nearly 1 billion copies sold worldwide, Monopoly has sparked countless family arguments over the years.
Lionsgate, in partnership with Barbie outfit LuckyChap and Hasbro Entertainment, is behind this exciting project. This isn’t the first time Lionsgate has attempted to bring Monopoly to the big screen, with a previous version starring Kevin Hart and directed by Tim Story. Daley and Goldstein, known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and the action comedy Game Night, are set to lead this new adaptation.
Daley and Goldstein, represented by CAA, Fourth Wall Management, and Hansen Jacobson, have a successful track record in the industry. Their previous projects have grossed millions at the box office, and they are currently working on the action adventure film Mayday for Apple starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new Monopoly movie adaptation.
