Shawn Carter, aka Jay-Z, and Sean Combs, aka Diddy, have been cleared of a lawsuit alleging sexual assault from a woman who accused them of drugging and raping her when she was 13 years old in 2000. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, voluntarily dismissed her complaint with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring the case back to court. This decision was celebrated by both Jay-Z and Diddy, with Jay-Z calling it a victory and emphasizing the importance of protecting victims in the judicial system.
Diddy’s legal team also expressed relief at the dismissal and vowed to continue fighting against baseless claims and holding those accountable. The lawsuit originally filed by Jane Doe in October initially named Diddy as the sole assailant, but it was later amended in December to include Jay-Z as an alleged co-assailant at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.
Jay-Z’s management company, Roc Nation, vehemently denied the accusations and accused Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of attempting to blackmail them. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Jay-Z and his legal team remained confident in their defense, with attorney Alex Spiro holding a press conference to dispute the allegations and assert Jay-Z’s innocence.
Meanwhile, Diddy is currently facing federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. He has maintained his innocence and is set to stand trial in 2025. Diddy has also faced numerous lawsuits related to alleged abuse, all of which he denies.
