Jared Leto Confirmed to Play Skeletor in Masters of the Universe Movie with Nicholas Galitzine
Jared Leto is set to portray the iconic character Skeletor in the highly-anticipated Masters of the Universe film, co-starring Nicholas Galitzine. Rumors were circulating earlier this year about Leto’s involvement in the project, and now it’s official. Alongside Leto, other notable villains have been cast, including Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
The star-studded cast also includes Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, Camila Mendes as Captain Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms/Duncan. After several changes in directors, writers, and actors, the production is finally moving forward. Travis Knight will be directing from a script by Chris Butler, with initial drafts by David Callaham and Aaron & Adam Nee.
Initially set up at Netflix, the project faced budget issues leading to its cancellation by the streaming service. It was later picked up by Amazon MGM Studios for a theatrical release on June 5, 2026. Leto, who will also star in the upcoming Tron: Ares sequel, plays Ares, a groundbreaking new character in the Tron universe.
