Legendary’s upcoming sequel to Godzilla x Kong, titled The New Empire, has announced the addition of Jack O’Connell to the cast. Plot details for the new film are being kept under wraps, but Legendary has hinted that the sequel will introduce new human characters alongside the beloved Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face a world-ending threat.
Kaitlyn Dever is set to star in the MonsterVerse project, with O’Connell playing the role of her character’s brother. Dan Stevens is also expected to reprise his role as Trapper, Monarch’s Titan veterinarian. The new installment will be helmed by director Grant Sputore, known for his work on the sci-fi thriller I Am Mother, with the script penned by Dave Callaham. The release date for the film is set for March 26, 2027.
Jack O’Connell is also set to star in several other high-profile projects, including Ryan Coogler’s Sinners and the upcoming film 28 Years Later. Sinners, a supernatural horror movie, features O’Connell alongside Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and others. The film is set to hit theaters on April 18th. Meanwhile, O’Connell will also appear in 28 Years Later, a sequel to the original film, which is scheduled for release on June 20th, with a third film in the series planned to complete the trilogy.
