ICC ODI Cricket World Cup 2023, Winners List from 1975 to 2023: It’s been 48 years since the inception of the first ODI World Cup. Initially started as a 60-over format, with teams only wearing whites to play the game, a lot of changes were witnessed in the format of the game. With overs reduced to 50 and the introduction of coloured kits, with jersey numbers and names as coloured broadcast, starting to take over the world, the game of cricket has evolved with the development of technology and the demand of fans all across the globe. Still, we go back to written documents or eyewitnesses who are still alive to witness the game unfold like this over the years.
It is now in its 13th edition, and there is just one game left to determine who will lift the coveted ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 Trophy and be crowned World Champions.
The two cricketing superpowers—India and Australia—will be locking horns against each other in the final on Sunday, November 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Only time can tell which will keep their composure to overcome this final hurdle to win either their third or sixth ODI World Cup.
Before that, here is a look back at the past winners of the ODI World Cup who managed to lay their hands on that trophy—
