A group of over 700 Hollywood professionals associated with a Jewish advocacy group called The Brigade has released a statement condemning Artists4Ceasefire’s promotion of “Red Hand” pins in support of Gaza to be worn on the 2025 Academy Awards red carpet.
The Brigade, consisting of producers, filmmakers, agents, managers, publicists, executives, and actors, was established following a Hamas terrorist attack against Israeli citizens on October 7, 2023. Their focus is on spreading messages and supporting Israel within the Hollywood community.
The strongly worded letter sent to Artists4Ceasefire criticized the pins as a symbol of Jewish bloodshed rather than peace. It was in response to Artists4Ceasefire’s encouragement of wearing the pins at awards season red carpets. This came at a time when Israeli authorities confirmed the deaths of Kfir and Ariel Bibas, young hostages taken during the 2023 Hamas attack.
The letter highlighted the insensitive timing of Artists4Ceasefire’s actions, urging celebrities to proudly wear the pins on the same day news broke of the Bibas brothers’ tragic deaths in Gaza.
Previously, Artists4Ceasefire had provided similar pins at the 2024 Academy Awards, where notable stars like Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, Ramy Youssef, and Ava DuVernay wore them to show support for peace and ceasefire efforts in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The Brigade’s full letter addressed to Red Hand supporters emphasized their objection to the pins’ symbolism of Jewish murder and condemned their association with tragic events such as the lynching of innocent Israelis by Palestinian terrorists. The letter urged Hollywood individuals to reconsider wearing the pins and see them for what they truly represent.
