A convicted serial rapist, who posed as a Hollywood producer to lure women, has been found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola. The Los Angeles jury, after deliberating for two days, upheld all charges, including sexual assaults on seven other victims from 2007 to 2021. The two women met David Pearce at a warehouse party in East Los Angeles before he drugged them fatally at his Beverly Hills apartment. Pearce is set to be sentenced on March 13 and faces a potential 148 years to life in prison.
The newly-appointed L.A. district attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized that his office will prosecute individuals who supply fentanyl illegally and engage in sexual assaults to the fullest extent of the law. He praised the women who courageously reported the crimes committed against them by Pearce. The jury could not reach a verdict on the accessory after the fact charges against aspiring actor Brandt Walter Osborn, leading to a mistrial.
Giles and Cabrales-Arzola died from fentanyl and GHB overdose after spending hours at Pearce’s apartment. Seven other women testified about the sexual crimes committed by Pearce, who falsely claimed to be an “entertainment professional.” Despite his claims, it appears that Pearce has no production credits in the entertainment industry.
