Design & Display
The OnePlus Open is an outward folding smartphone, and it’s basically identical to the OPPO Find N3. It has an IPX4 rating, which means that it’s not recommended to be used by the beach as dust can get inside the device. Small amounts of water, and getting caught in the rain shouldn’t cause any damage.
The Emerald Dusk model features a matte-frosted glass rear panel, while the Voyager Black features a vegan leather cover for a more luxurious and unique feel. The OnePlus Open weighs 239 grams, and has a 5.8mm thickness when unfolded. OnePlus also says that it has tested the hinge mechanism for 1,000,000 folds, ensuring that the device can withstand 10 years of abuse, assuming the device if folded 100x per day.
The Open measures 153.4 x 143.1 x 5.8mm in an unfolded state, which means it’s slightly shorter and wider than the Google Pixel Fold. As usual, the device has the volume rocker on the right side, alongside the power button with the embedded fingerprint sensor, and the alert slider on the top left side.
The cover screen features a 6.31-inch 2K AMOLED display with 20:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate. The main (inner) display features a 7.82-inch Flexi-Fluid AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Both of these panels feature the LTPO 3.0 technology and have up to 2800 nits of peak brightness and support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

The OnePlus Open comes with three cameras on the back, consisting of a 48MP primary with OIS, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 64MP telephoto sensor with OIS and 6x “lossless zoom”. These sensors are placed in a circular camera island in the top center half of the rear panel, and strangetly, the LED flash is placed on the topmost left corner.
Similar to other OnePlus flagships, the device carries the Hasselblad branding, which brings a variety of filters and optimizations to provide the classic looks. The photos and videos from the Open should be equivalent to or even better than the OnePlus 11, although it remains to be seen how well it’ll hold up against it. OnePlus says the new Sony LYTIA-T808 primary camera will result in brighter and clearer images with less overexposure, and low-light photos should yield better results. As always, we’ll put the device through its paces and tell you all about it in our full review.
On the front, the OnePlus Open features a 32MP, f/2.4 front-facing camera on the cover display, and a 20MP, f/2.2 sensor on the main (inner) screen. Neither of these are placed under the display, and instead, OnePlus went with a usual punch-hole cutout.
Battery
The OnePlus Open packs a 4,805 mAh battery, which isn’t the highest, but also not the lowest we’ve seen yet in a modern foldable. The Open supports 67W wired charging in Europe. OnePlus says the phone can go from 0% to 100% in just 42 minutes. The official press release doesn’t mention the previously rumored 80W charging method, so we’ll have to wait until it’s confirmed at a later date.
Unfortunately, the phone lacks support for wireless charging, which means that those who are looking for a phone they can toss on a charger at night or at work will have to opt for the cable-only solution to top up their devices.
We’re not sure why OnePlus decided against the wireless charging method, but it likely comes down to design and price constraints. Previous OPPO Find N-series devices also lacked the feature, so this shouldn’t be all that surprising. Still, we’d love to see OnePlus join Samsung and Google in including the useful feature.
