In February 2017, Remi and his girlfriend Alondra were on a trip to Tokyo when they stumbled upon a shelf full of high-quality stickers made by B-Side Label. This chance discovery sparked an idea that would eventually lead to the creation of Blank Tag Co., a sticker company that now generates over $100,000 annually, with 80% of its revenue coming from Instagram ads.
Remi and Alondra were inspired to create a sticker company that would spread joy and happiness, just like the stickers they found in the Tokyo stores. They believe that stickers are more than just pieces of paper – they are a form of self-expression and a way to capture memories.
To build a customer base from scratch, Remi initially tried using PPC ads on Google AdWords but soon realized that the best way to grow brand awareness was through Instagram. By regularly posting content on Instagram showcasing their stickers, Blank Tag Co. was able to attract over 38,000 followers.
In order to drive more revenue from Instagram, Remi and Alondra started experimenting with paid advertising on the platform. After testing various ad placements, they discovered that Instagram ads outperformed Facebook ads, leading them to focus all their efforts on Instagram ads.
To optimize ad performance, Remi tested different image and video styles to see what resonated best with their audience. They found that images with bright backgrounds featuring their stickers on objects like laptops performed the best. Additionally, they experimented with ad placement, copy, location targeting, and audience segmentation to maximize ROI.
Blank Tag Co. attributes much of its success to its strong brand identity, which focuses on spreading happiness and creating a sense of belonging through stickers. By valuing their brand and understanding that consumers are looking for more than just low prices and simple shopping processes, Blank Tag Co. has been able to differentiate itself in a crowded market and connect with customers on a deeper level.
