Serena Motola, Seiya Matsudo, and Ray Shirakawa have officially joined the cast of Seasons, the highly anticipated debut feature film from Anky Cyriaque, known for Love and I Had a Fight. More Japanese actors are expected to be added to the star-studded ensemble.
Seasons is a compelling tale of love, life, death, and destiny that transcends continents and time. The screenplay was penned by the Oscar-nominated writer Kalman Apple (known for Speed for Thespians), based on an original story by Cyriaque (Seasons of a Soul). Filming is scheduled to commence in fall 2025 at various locations including New York, London, Vancouver, and Nepal.
The storyline follows a couple destined to fall in love but thwarted by the schemes of a vengeful soul, leading them on a 100-year journey through past lives before they can finally unite.
Conversations are in progress with two prominent Hollywood actors, in addition to additional Japanese talent, who will join Canadian singer and songwriter Kreesha Turner in the film.
According to Cyriaque, Seasons has been a decade-long dream in the making. The director shared, “What started as a spark of imagination has taken me on an extraordinary journey across the vibrant streets of London, the serene beauty of Japan, and the towering landscapes of Nepal.”
Reflecting the diverse cast, Seasons will seamlessly blend English and Japanese languages. Cyriaque explained, “The dialogue in Seasons dances between English and Japanese, capturing the essence of real-life connections where words, cultures, and emotions intertwine.”
Actress, singer, and model Serena Motola (known for Ice Cream Fever, Voices in the Wind) will portray Eiko, a young woman breaking free from traditional expectations in Japan and navigating a romantic entanglement in New York City.
Eager to bring her vision to the character of Eiko, Motola expressed her excitement for the role. Seiya Matsudo (from The Flash, The Man in the High Castle) will play Yutaka, vying for Eiko’s affections in the bustling city of New York.
Ray Shirakawa added, “As the title Seasons suggests, it depicts the cycles of life and the seasons of the soul. I believe that the themes of life’s choices and relationships, which everyone experiences, are sure to resonate with audiences.”
Cyriaque, a devoted fan of Japanese cinema, pays homage to the influence of Japanese movies on his filmmaking. He credits Tokyo-based producer Ivan Collazo and Kosei James Ono for their roles in assembling the Japanese cast for Seasons.
Produced by Meosha Davis, Cordero Sinclair, Jamar Atkinson, Joel Quinones, and Joseph Philippe AKA Joey MHZ, Seasons promises to be a captivating cinematic experience blending cultures, languages, and emotions on screen.
