Filmmaker David F. Sandberg is bouncing back from the disappointment of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” with his new horror film, “Until Dawn.” This new project marks Sandberg’s return to the genre that made him famous, and it is already generating buzz in the industry.
“Until Dawn,” written by Blair Butler and Gary Dauberman, is a live-action spin-off of the popular 2015 video game developed by Supermassive Games. The film follows a group of teenagers who find themselves trapped in a remote valley by a murderer, only to be sent back in time and forced to relive the night of their killings.
The movie features rising star Ella Rubin, known for her work in “The Girl from Plainville,” “Anora,” “The Sweet East,” and the latest version of “Gossip Girl.” Rubin is joined by a talented ensemble cast including Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, Belmont Cameli, and Peter Stormare as the menacing murderer.
In “Until Dawn,” viewers will follow Clover and her friends as they search for answers in the remote valley where her sister disappeared. They soon find themselves in a terrifying loop of being stalked and murdered by a masked killer, only to wake up and start the night over again. With each repetition, the killer becomes more menacing, and the group realizes they must survive until dawn to escape.
