Marvel Studios is revamping their approach to television series, opting for a more traditional TV format rather than a movie-like production. This shift is evident in the selection of Ed Bernero as the showrunner for the upcoming “Nova” series. According to Deadline, Bernero has been tapped to lead the new project, confirming that “Nova” will indeed be a TV series, not a film.
“Nova” follows the story of Richard Ryder, a man who joins the space cop group, the Nova Corps. However, an intriguing aspect of the series is Ryder’s origin, as the Nova Corps. may no longer exist following the events of “Infinity War,” where their home planet Xandar was decimated by Thanos.
Bernero, known for his work on “Criminal Minds” and its spinoff series, brings a wealth of TV experience to “Nova.” The release date for the series on Disney+ is still uncertain, with a lineup of Marvel Studios TV projects set for 2025, including “Daredevil: Born Again,” “Ironheart,” and “Wonder Man.” It is anticipated that “Nova” may debut sometime in 2026.
