Deadpool and Wolverine, known for their graphic and vulgar humor, pushed the boundaries with a joke that was deemed too extreme for Disney. The official script of the R-rated action-comedy, available on Disney’s FYC website, unveiled the cut joke that Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy had to remove from the film.
The original line that Reynolds’ Deadpool was supposed to say was, “Fuck! What we can’t even afford one more X-Man? Disney is so cheap. I can barely breathe with all this Mickey Mouse cock in my throat.” However, in the final version of the film, the line was changed to, “Fuck, now Disney gets cheap? It’s like Pinocchio jammed his face in my ass and started lying like crazy.”
After the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, which broke box office records in July, Levy hinted at the removed line in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. He mentioned that the original joke was replaced with a Pinocchio reference but didn’t disclose the exact content of the original line.
Levy, who co-wrote the screenplay with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zab Wells, emphasized that the controversial line was the only one they had to alter. The replacement line about Pinocchio’s involvement in a dirty scenario showcases Reynolds’ daring humor and commitment to pushing boundaries in the film.
