In 2025, comedian Dave Chappelle was announced as the first host of “Saturday Night Live” by NBC. The network also revealed that actor Timothée Chalamet will host the following week and perform as a musical guest. Additionally, NBC announced an anniversary special for February.
Chappelle will return to “Saturday Night Live” on Jan. 18 for his fourth time as host. The announcement was made on Jan. 10, and Chappelle’s episode will feature rapper GloRilla as the musical guest, marking her debut on the show.
Following Chappelle, Timothée Chalamet will host “Saturday Night Live” on Jan. 25. Chalamet, known for his role in “Dune,” will also be the musical guest, making it his third time on the show. The announcement mentioned that Chappelle was nominated for a Grammy Award for his Netflix special, “Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer.”
Chappelle faced controversy in his previous specials for jokes about the trans community, but in his 2021 special, “The Closer,” he promised not to make any more jokes about them. Despite the backlash, he joked about repairing his relationship with the transgender community by writing a play.
