Daniel Craig has exited Luca Guadagnino’s “Sgt. Rock” movie at DC Studios, according to TheWrap.
The screenplay for the film is penned by Justin Kritzkes, known for his work on “Challengers” and “Queer” with Guadagnino. Set in World War II, “Sgt. Rock” is expected to be a period piece.
Sgt. Rock, a prominent military character from DC Comics, leads Easy Company. Debuting in 1959 in “Our Army at War” and later having his own series from 1977-1988, he was created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert.
Craig and Guadagnino collaborated on A24’s “Queer,” based on a novel by William S. Burroughs. The film received positive reviews for Craig’s performance at the Venice International Film Festival. A24 secured domestic rights, with Mubi obtaining distribution rights for various international markets. Despite the acclaim, the film did not receive any Oscar nominations.
