Just one week away from Brady Corbet’s highly-anticipated film The Brutalist hitting theaters, we are already looking ahead to his next projects. After a six-year wait for The Brutalist, it seems the wait won’t be as long for his upcoming works.
Corbet has co-written Ann Lee with Mona Fastvold, his partner and collaborator, who has already directed the film. Starring Amanda Seyfried, Thomasin McKenzie, Lewis Pullman, and more, with a score by Daniel Blumberg, Ann Lee is described as an “epic fable” following the founding leader of the Shaker Movement in America.
In a recent New Yorker profile, Corbet shared that he has completed the first draft of a new screenplay drawing inspiration from horror and Western genres. Set in the 1970s and 1980s and focusing on the immigration process from China to California, this project aims to push boundaries and challenge viewers.
Corbet expressed his desire to create a provocative and controversial film following the reception of The Brutalist. With a passion for pushing audiences out of their comfort zones, he is eager to shake things up with his next project.
