Skarsgård mentioned that he enjoyed the challenge of playing a character like Eddie, who has a “street weasel quality.” However, the real challenge for him was performing alone for long periods, with Hopkins’ character delivering dialogue through the car’s speakers. Despite the difficulties, Skarsgård found joy in sharing the screen with Hopkins for key scenes in the film.
“Locked,” a remake of the Argentine thriller “4×4,” directed by David Yarovesky, follows Skarsgård’s character as a carjacker who gets trapped in a self-driving vehicle and must endure torture from Hopkins’ character over the phone. While some critics found the film’s exploration of morality underwhelming, IndieWire highlighted the film’s ability to exploit its unique premise and provide entertainment for viewers.
