Ava DuVernay signed up with MSNBC’s “Politics Nation” as the program’s last visitor of 2023 to review Nikki Haley’s Civil Battle “debacle,” which the supervisor views as representative of the bigger Republican politician Celebration.
Throughout a New Hampshire project quit, the previous South Carolina guv and Republican governmental confident Haley was asked to specify what she thought triggered the Civil Battle. Her response did not consist of a solitary reference of enslavement, triggering wide pushback.
The host of “Politics Nation” Reverend Al Sharpton asked DuVernay for her take on Haley’s remarks and the failing to clarify her declaration in the list below days.
“I think they’re two pretty challenging issues when you think about the Nikki Haley debacle that we’re all experiencing,” the movie supervisor responded.
“Either she didn’t know that slavery was the reason for the Civil War beginning,” DuVernay proceeded, “Or she doesn’t want to say and wants to kind of continue the lies of omission that have become the hallmark of her party.”
The movie and television supervisor included that the Republican politician Celebration “is thriving off the idea that you can take knowledge out of the public sphere and defend things that are unconscionable.”
DuVernay was not amazed by Haley’s remarks, “but it’s certainly part of an ongoing litany of real warnings that I think we should all heed.”
“I mean, they’re basically saying what they want to do and what they will do on what they’ve already done,” DuVernay proceeded.
“My hope is that it is a wake-up call to the dangerous kind of deranged idea that history doesn’t matter anymore,” the movie supervisor wrapped up.
