David Oyelowo leads the cast in Government Cheese, a surreal family comedy by Apple TV+. The series, created by Paul Hunter and Aeysha Carr, follows the quirky Chambers family in 1969 San Fernando Valley. The first four episodes will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on April 16, 2025, with weekly episodes until May 28, 2025.
Simone Missick, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, and Evan Ellison star alongside Oyelowo, who also serves as an executive producer. The show centers on the Chambers family as they navigate unconventional family dynamics after Hampton Chambers (Oyelowo) returns from prison.
Government Cheese also features a talented ensemble cast including Bokeem Woodbine, Jeremy Bobb, Louis Cancelmi, Julien Heron, Djilali Rez-Kallah, Louis Ferreira, Thomas Beaudoin, Kyle Mac, John Ortiz, and Adam Beach.
David Oyelowo has been part of other successful TV series like Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Silo. In Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Oyelowo plays the legendary lawman in the Old West, while Silo follows a group of survivors living in a mile-deep underground home. Season 2 of Silo recently premiered on Apple TV+.
