Daredevil, also known as Matt Murdock, has garnered a lot of interest from fans due to his powers and abilities, leaving many wondering if he is superhuman. This curiosity only increased with the release of Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again, showcasing more of the Man Without Fear’s impressive feats. Throughout his appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Murdock has showcased incredible fighting skills and heightened senses that surpass those of regular humans.
Is Matt Murdock considered a superhuman in Daredevil: Born Again? How do his powers actually function? Here’s everything you need to know.
In Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock can be classified as a superhuman in a sense. The chemicals from a truck accident that caused him to go blind as a child not only resulted in permanent blindness but also heightened his other senses such as taste, touch, and smell to levels beyond human capability.
Initially struggling to control his enhanced senses, Murdock received guidance from his mentor, Stick, who also trained him in various martial arts techniques. By the time he reached adulthood and began his vigilante work, Murdock had developed a “radar sense” – his primary tool as the vigilante Daredevil.
Daredevil’s radar sense is his main ability, complementing his martial arts proficiency and hand-to-hand combat skills. This ability enables him to detect the proximity of individuals and changes in their heartbeat, aiding in recognizing deception or danger. He can also perceive changes in air quality and scents, using sounds in his environment to create a mental map of his surroundings.
This radar sense is comparable to, and even potentially surpasses, Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense. Daredevil’s quick response to danger without visually seeing it is showcased in his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where he intercepts a brick thrown towards Peter Parker’s home moments before Peter himself can react to it.
