After facing criticism for its recent experiment in Las Vegas, the American Film Market (AFM) is returning to Los Angeles for its 2025 edition. The event will take place from November 11-16 at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, adjacent to Beverly Hills.
Jean M. Prewitt and Clay Epstein, CEO and Chairperson of the Independent Film & Television Alliance, expressed the significance of AFM’s return to LA following the recent devastating fires. They emphasized the importance of gathering in the city where AFM originated and contributing to its rebuilding efforts.
The decision to move back to Hollywood is likely to be well-received by global film buyers and sellers who found last year’s market at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas to be noisy and disconnected from the heart of the film industry in LA. The Fairmont Century Plaza, located near key areas like Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Westwood, offers a convenient and prestigious setting for screenings.
This relocation marks the third move in as many years for AFM, which left its long-time home at Santa Monica’s Loews hotel in 2023. The organization’s statement highlighted the importance of AFM as a gathering space and Los Angeles as the optimal location for the event.
