NYC Weekend Watch: Repertory Offerings in NYC
Looking for some classic films to watch in New York City this weekend? Check out our weekly round-up of repertory offerings happening in the city.
Roxy Cinema: Martin Scorsese has curated “Living, Breathing New York,” featuring films like Shadows and a 35mm print of Heaven Knows What on Sunday. The Rubber Gun, with an exclusive trailer debut, will screen on Saturday with a Q&A with Stephen Lack. Additionally, Blue Velvet, Lost Highway, and Wild at Heart will be shown.
Anthology Film Archives: Robina Rose’s Nightshift, in a new restoration, will be playing soon. The MatÃas Piñeiro-curated series will include films by Antonioni, Hollis Frampton, and Straub-Huillet.
Film Forum: Watch Luis Buñuel’s Él in a 4K restoration, as well as Lou Ye’s Suzhou River and Spring Fever. Play It As It Lays and Godard’s A Woman Is a Woman will also be shown, with Space Jam screening on Sunday.
IFC Center: Don’t miss Hideaki Anno’s Love & Pop in a new restoration, along with screenings of eXistenZ, Mulholland Dr., Paprika, Best in Show, Palindromes, and Pink Flamingos in the late evening.
Nitehawk Cinema: Catch Swept Away and The Iron Giant screening early on Saturday and Sunday.
BAM: Heiny Srour’s Leila and the Wolves and The Hour of Liberation has arrived are starting their run at BAM.
Metrograph: Enjoy classics like Amarcord, The Secret of Kells, The Virgin Suicides, River’s Edge, and Singin’ in the Rain in 35mm. The theater is also showing films by Tonino Guerra, Inbal Weinberg, Welcome to Suburbia, Take a Walk on the Wild Side, and The Body Between Us.
